Luiz has researched and written for a number of national and international publications on ingredients and food trends, as well as having many of his recipes featured in newspapers and magazines including BBC Good Food, Waitrose Weekend and The Telegraph.
Some recent feature commissions include writing for the Italian Trade Agency (ITA) on the ingredients of the southern region of Campania like San Marzano tinned tomatoes, artisan mozzarella and Gragnano dry pasta. He has researched and written on Japanese Wagyu beef for the Japan Livestock Products Export Promotion Council (J-LEC) as well as on the migrating Norwegian cod known as SKREI for the Norwegian Seafood Council and ANFACO, the National Association of Preserved Fish Producers in Spain.
Wine & Spirits Writing
Luiz holds the Wine and Spirit Education Trust (WSET) qualification to Advanced Level. His wine writing has led him to work with some of the most notable wine regions in the world, including Burgundy, Stellenbosch, California and Galicia for a number of commissioned features. Notable collaborations include a feature on ‘Matching Japanese Food and Wine’ for the Real Wine Fair and Martell’s ‘The 4th Course Campaign’.
In addition to wine writing, Luiz has worked with many wine and spirit producers developing and executing food-pairing menus, hosting press and media at branded dining events including Bordeaux Wines, Stellenbosch Wine Experiences and House of Martell.
When not writing about food or wine at home, Luiz scours the world in search of new ingredients and cuisines; his travel writing has led him to work with a number of national and regional tourism boards including Visit USA, Atout France, as well as those of the Philippines, Taiwan, Jersey, Spain, Singapore and Estonia to name a few.
Luiz works with many international food agencies, major airlines and hotel groups on a number of commissioned features. Some of these partners include Malaysian and Etihad Airlines, the Shangri-La, the Marriott, the YTL Hotels, COMO Hotels and Resorts, the Raffles as well as the Belmond Group and the Luxury Hotels of the World.
